Are you a fan of mind mapping? Have you ever wondered if you can create mind maps in your Google Docs account? Well, you’re in luck! In this article, we’ll explore two easy methods to create mind maps in Google Docs. Let’s dive in!
Method 1: Mind Mapping Made Easy
While Google Docs doesn’t offer a built-in mind mapping tool like MindMapper or MindManager, we can still create mind maps using the drawing functionality. Here’s how:
-
Start by creating a new file and giving it a name that reflects your mind map’s topic.
-
Select a shape for the center of your mind map. Keep it simple and choose a general shape.
-
Add a text box to your drawing and position it on top of the shape.
-
Add branches with sub nodes. Start with six branches and play with different colors.
-
Copy and resize the branches, then connect them with lines.
-
Copy the group and change the background colors using the six colors you previously selected.
Voila! You now have a beautiful mind mapping Google Docs template. Feel free to expand the map, add more sub branches, experiment with colors, and even include images.
Method 2: Mind Mapping Made Easier
If you prefer a quicker approach, you can use the Google Docs templates I’ve created for you. These templates are ready to use and can be accessed with your Google account. Here are some of the templates available:
- Book Notes (download a copy to your Google Drive)
- Meeting Agenda (download a copy to your Google Drive)
- Taking Notes In Class
- Overview of Income and Expenses
- Organizing Thoughts (added later)
- Creating Your Own Template
Simply click on the template you’d like to use, and you’ll be redirected to the Google Docs template page where you can access it.
One cool feature you can utilize is adding comments to your mind map. By pressing CONTROL+ALT+M, you can easily incorporate ideas, paragraphs, and more without cluttering the map.
While these methods may require some manual effort, they provide an easy and effective way to create mind maps in Google Docs.
Enough talking, it’s time to get started! Use the templates provided or create your own. Mind mapping has never been easier with Google Docs. Share your mind map templates with me, and together, we can make mind mapping in Google Docs even more enjoyable.
